Anton W (Ton) Langerak, PhD is Professor Medical Immunology and coordinator of the Laboratory Medical Immunology at Erasmus MC, The Netherlands. He studied Biology at Leiden University, where he obtained his MSc degree in molecular biology in 1990. In 1995 he obtained his PhD at Erasmus University Rotterdam. Since 1997 he has been group leader at the Immunology department, Erasmus MC. His research focuses on the interface between normal and malignant lymphoid development with emphasis on chronic lymphoproliferations and the aging immune system. Another focus area concerns innovative diagnostic approaches in leukemia and lymphoma. Currently he is general secretary of the Dutch College of Medical Immunologists, chair of EuroClonality, coordinator of the EuroClonality-NGS working group, and extended board member of ERIC (European Research Initiative on CLL).
