PD Dr. med. Dr. phil. Fabienne Meier-Abt is a physician-scientist at the University of Zurich and University Hospital Zurich with clinical board certifications in both Medical Genetics and Hematology. Fabienne studied biochemistry and medicine at the University of Cambridge, UK, and at Yale University School of Medicine, USA, obtained a PhD in experimental breast cancer research and acquired expertise in proteomic methodologies during a transition postdoctoral fellowship in Prof. Ruedi Aebersold’s proteomics laboratory at ETH Zurich. Fabienne now leads her own research team, investigating the role of protein expression in linking genotype to tumor phenotype in patients with leukemia and/or hereditary cancer predisposition. For her research work, Fabienne was awarded the Young Investigator Award of the 14th Brupbacher Symposium in 2019 and the Early Career Award of the European Conference of Human Genetics in 2022.
Clinically, Fabienne is establishing hematological and oncological genetics at the Institute of Medical Genetics of the University of Zurich. Fabienne is the contact person for patients with hereditary cancer predispositions with a special focus on children with suspected tumor predisposition syndromes and patients with hereditary predispositions for hematological malignancies and/or breast cancer.
