Assistant Professor
The Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research

Dr. Shih-Shih Chen is an assistant professor at the Feinstein Institute of Molecular Medicine, dedicated to translational research in Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL). Her work centers on understanding the complex interplay between CLL cells and their microenvironment, with the ultimate goal of developing improved therapies. Dr. Chen utilizes cutting-edge mouse xenograft models, populated with primary patient CLL cells, to investigate the inherent heterogeneity of this cancer. Her research has revealed that a small but potent subpopulation of CLL cells can activate T-cells and manipulate the tumor microenvironment, driving disease progression and drug resistance. Currently, Dr. Chen is developing sophisticated in vivo and in vitro models that mimic the lymph node environment, aiming to further decipher the role of its distinct compartments in the disease progression of B-cell malignancies. This innovative research holds significant promise for identifying novel therapeutic targets and improving outcomes for CLL patients.
